Reduce water usage by 20 percent
Each day, residents in the Sacramento region use 280 gallons of water each from the Sacramento River. Even though river watershed has had declining water use per capita, it is still well above the usage in Southern California and Coastal regions.
Water conservation is mandated by Senate Bill 7, which requires a 20 percent reduction in water usage by 2020, and has been adopted by the Greenwise Regional Action Plan.
The Sacramento region is fortunate to have water purveyors who collaborate through regional organizations such as the 20-member Regional Water Authority. Together, these water agencies are making progress to promote water conservation and bring new funding for conservation infrastructure like water meters.
