Energy Use
Reducing energy use results in cost savings for consumers and reduced emissions, amounting to improved air quality for the entire Sacramento area
In our region, the average family of four spends roughly $10,000 on energy each year.*
Each of our 2.3 million residents use the following amounts of energy on an annual basis:
- 7,900 kilowatt hours of electricity
- 228 therms of natural gas
- 450 gallons of gasoline
*2008. Energy use includes electricity, natural gas and transportation fuels.
Energy goal
Greenwise participants set a high-level objective to reduce energy usage by fifteen percent (15%) per capita, measured against 2008 baseline data.
Action is needed to reduce energy use in buildings, by industry and in all modes of transportation.
