Clean Tech Economy

solar installRegional leaders support growth in green jobs and clean tech businesses across all areas of the green economy.

The “Clean Energy Technology Cluster” is one specific, narrowly-defined component of the green economy, including establishments with primary business activities that provide products or related services focused on:

  • Clean Energy: renewable energy generation, storage and infrastructure
  • Energy Efficiency: products, machinery, software and design that reduce or manage energy consumption
  • Clean Transportation: alternative fuels, vehicles and related equipment and components
  • Green Building: sustainable and energy efficient design, construction and operations
According to the Center for Strategic Economic Research, there are roughly 200 clean energy technology establishments in the Sacramento region. While the region contains only 6 percent of California’s population, we are home to nearly 8 percent of California’s green jobs.

Greenwise Joint Venture and our partners are growing this sector–and according to Environmental Protection Agency Chief Administrator Lisa Jackson, our region is on the right track.
